Tanabata 2023
Event Period: July 7th, 2023 ~ July 31st, 2023 (Event Registration begins July 5th, 2023 · Bonus Rewards ends August 12th, 2023)
Welcome to Sakura's first ever event of its second run! Inspired by the story and origins of Tanabata (and thanks to the chat we had with many of you on the Discord about it), we decided to hold a themed mini event related to this day for fun. Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, is a Japanese festival that celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively)! According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. During Sakura's Tanabata Mini Event, players will (re-)unite with a partner and work together to complete some tasks and mini games. However, although the main focus of this event is to work in pairs just like the story's lovers, it is not required so you *can* solo this event – but do be warned that you won't get the full rewards possible! |
EVENT GUIDE
To begin, players must first register for the event with a partner of their choosing so grab a friend, ask in the Discord, or post an AD in the Event Bulletin Board! Once both parties agree to team up, both players must fill out the sign up form and list the other as their partner. We'll check forms so when we see a mutual match, we'll register that partnership and quote both posts to let those players know that their registration has been approved!
- If you're participating in this event solo, do not list any player in the "Partner:" field of the sign up form and instead, write "N/A" or something similar. We'll register you right away as an individual player but do note that this cannot be reversed or changed if you later find someone to partner up with!
- Alternatively, you can also register as a solo player but request a partner to be matched with you, which we'll assign randomly based on availability. See below for more information!
If choosing a random partner, this allows you to start working on the tasks anyways and if you end up getting a partner later, you can then work with them to complete both halves of the tasks to get better rewards! However, there is a risk to this as you may wait days or weeks before someone else signs up who is also looking for a random partner—if anyone does at all—so even if you find a partner, if it's late into the event, there will be less time to complete the tasks.
Another thing to note about participating solo (whether intentional or because you were unable to get a partner) is that there is still a chance to obtain the bonus reward for completing a task in full. Please see the thread for more information, under the "For Solo Players" header!
AFTER REGISTRATIONAfter your registration is approved, take a look at the Tanabata Tasks if you haven't yet so you have an understanding of what activities and games can be completed, and the reward you'll get from each. There are rewards for the individual who completes their half of a task, as well as a bonus reward for both players if everyone does their part and completes their portion of the task on time! If you're reading this before July 7th, you'll need to wait until that date to start actually participating in the event past registering but if you're reading this after that date, then you're free to begin as soon as your registration is approved! | EVENT PROGRESSOnce you complete a task, you then need to submit it for verification which you can do at the Event Booth, either as you finish each task or multiples in a single batch. We'll ask you for your partner's name, as well as proof of how you completed the task(s), so if everything looks good then you'll get your individual reward as soon as we approve your submission! However, you will only get the bonus reward once your partner also submits their verification form and it's approved. You do not need to link to their post though, as we'll keep track of partnerships and who has completed what on the Tanabata Tracker! It is manually updated as we approve submissions so it will not always be the most recent in terms of when people post, but it will be up-to-date in terms of what we've responded to. |
COMPLETING THE EVENT
Although there are multiple Tanabata Tasks to complete, it is not required to finish them all! Feel free to pick and choose what you want to do because as long as you complete a minimum of 1 task (meaning your half of a task - so it doesn't matter if your partner finished their half or if you didn't have a partner at all), you will be allowed to apply for an Event Participation Achievement later on. Completing all tasks, however, will allow you to apply for the special Tanabata Event Achievement which is only for those who finish everything within the event period! Like the participation achievement, you only need to complete your half of every available task.
TANABATA TASKS
Below is the full list of tasks that can be completed, as well as the reward for each! The Total Requirement is what BOTH parties must do together in order to complete that task as a team and receive the bonus reward, whereas the Half Requirement is what each individual in the partnership does on their own to receive the individual reward. If both parties each finish their "half requirement" then naturally, the "total requirement" will be complete!
Each partnership can decide among themselves who is "Player A" or "Player B" but this can change depending on the task! For example, one player is a stronger trader than the other so they take on Player A's half of Task #01 but maybe they don't master as many decks so they take on Player B's half of Task #02 instead. You can specify which player you are when submitting your verification forms!
TASK | TOTAL REQUIREMENT | HALF REQUIREMENT | INDIVIDUAL REWARD | BONUS REWARD |
---|---|---|---|---|
#01 | Complete 7 Trade Meters! Trades can be made before/during the event period but eligible trade meters must be submitted during the event for it to count. | Player A: Complete 4 Trade Meters Player B: Complete 3 Trade Meters | 10 random cards, 2 flowers, 100 petals | 3 choicecard coupons, 10 coupon tokens |
#02 | Master 7 Decks! Cards can be obtained or already in the player's possession before/during the event period but eligible masteries must be submitted during the event for it to count. | Player A: Master 4 Decks Player B: Master 3 Decks | 5 random cards, 3 flowers, 200 petals | 3 choice regular coupons |
#03 | Make 7 Purchases! Each purchase (per player) can be made with either flowers or petals, AND must also be a unique type so each shop category (card packs, coupons, CDs, DVDs, games, light novels, manga) count as 1. Adoptions also count as a unique purchase type! Bank exchanges do not count. | Player A: Make 4 Purchases Player B: Make 3 Purchases | 5 random cards, 5 flowers, 400 petals | 1 choice special coupon |
#04 | Participate in forum games 7 times! Each game must be unique so multiple plays in a single game will only be counted once, but both players can use the same game and/or round and each would be considered as 1 unique game play. | Player A: Participate in 4 Games Player B: Participate in 3 Games | 5 random cards, 3 flowers, 200 petals | 5 random cards, 2 choicecard coupons, 20 coupon tokens |
#05 | Log in 7 times in a row! Collect your daily log in bonus for 3 or 4 days (varies depending on which player you are) in a row, without skipping or missing a day. Make sure the daily login bonus is logged on-site as proof! | Player A: Log in for 4 days in a row Player B: Log in for 3 days in a row | 10 random cards, 2 flowers, 100 petals | 5 random cards, 3 choice regular coupons |
#06 | Join the "Star Hunt"! Hidden around the site are 5 pairs of stars (for a total of 10 stars altogether) that have gotten separated. Players must each find one half of the pair so together, they can re-unite the stars once more! | Player A: Find all 5 Shiny Stars Player B: Find all 5 Sparkling Stars | 3 random cards per star found + 5 random cards for finding all 5 stars = 20 cards total | 5 choicecard coupons, 15 coupon tokens |
#07 | Participate in "Two of a Kind"! Given a list of 20 cards, partners must choose 5 of them to obtain during the event. Both players must then obtain their own copy of the card so when put together with their partner's copy, they make a pair! | Player A: Bring the 5 selected cards Player B: Bring the 5 selected cards | 2 random cards per card brought + 5 random cards for bringing all 5 cards = 15 cards total | 1 choice special coupon, 15 coupon tokens |
STAR HUNTOne of the event-limited mini games is a Star Hunt where players can help re-unite the separated stars! Hidden around the site (including card pages and forum threads or posts) are 5 pairs of stars with each pair containing 2 stars, making a total of 10 stars that must be found between both players. Stars within each pair will be the same colour but once you click on it, you will receive a reward for finding it that will come with a reward log that has either "shiny" or "sparkling" in the log subtitle! Player A's logs must all be titled as "shiny" whereas Player B's logs must all be titled as "sparkling" so if you find your partner's star instead of your own, you are allowed to tell them where it is so they can find and log it instead. Please note these rewards will NOT be saved to your site logs so make sure you note down your rewards before leaving the page! We will be asking for your own manual logs to confirm you found the correct stars. | TWO OF A KINDThe other event-limited mini game is Two of a Kind where players can show off the braincell they share with their partner! Given a pre-determined list of 20 cards, each pair must choose 5 of them to collect – but both players must obtain their own copy of each of those five cards, for a total of 10 cards altogether (or, 5 pairs of cards, thus: two of a kind). If one of the selected cards is makinishikino01, both Player A and Player B will each need their own copy of that card! Additionally, these cards MUST be obtained during the event period only so players cannot use a card they already owned prior to the event starting on July 7th! You could, however, trade eligible cards already in your possession with your partner so they have a copy and it'll count as them obtaining it during the event period (or vice versa). You can also choice any cards you may need but please note that in order to receive rewards, you will be turning in these cards so they can go to Lost and Found! aihoshino13, amimizuno01, anshiraishi17, cinnamoroll03, harukaamami20, hotarutomoe12, illyasvielvoneinzbern10, makinishikino14, noearchiviste13, sakurakinomoto07, subaruakehoshi20, titledream01, titledream02, titledream10, titledream11, titledream20, yukarikotozume11, yukarikotozume20, yurikatoudou02, yuukoichihara16 |
FAQ
- Are all deadlines based on the TCG time zone (EST/EDT)?
Yes! Please refer to the site clock on the sidebar for the exact time if needed. For logs and forum posts on proofs, as long as it is dated as July 7th then it can be used no matter what time it was done/logged! - Can I have a more detailed explanation of the purchase types mentioned in Task #03?
In the Sakura Shop there are a total of 3 main categories: Card Packs, Coupons, and Merchandise. Buying ANY card pack = 1 purchase type, no matter which one or how many you buy at once or overall (if buying multiple at separate times). Similarly, buying ANY coupon = 1 purchase type as well, no matter which coupon or how many you buy!
The only exception is for merchandise, where each merchandise type = 1 purchase type, so if you buy one each of a CD, a DVD, a game, a light novel, and manga (whether it's all on the same or different days) then that would be 5 purchase types total.
EXAMPLE: Player A made an adoption, bought 1 coupon and 1 CD on July 7 then bought 2 more CDs on July 8 - that would still only be 3 purchase types (1 adoption, 1 coupon, 1 CD) despite buying 3 CDs total - we only care about your first purchase of a specific type, no matter how many of it you buy.
However, Player B could also make an adoption and buy a coupon, and that would be 2 purchase types for them in addition to Player A's 3 purchases types (for a total of 5 purchase types altogether for that team)! Then, either Player A would need to make 1 more purchase type OR Player B needs to make 2 more (and then their player designations would switch). - Do adoption changes count as a purchase type for Task #03?
Yes, they do! However, making a new adoption OR making an adoption change within the event period will only count as 1 purchase type, even if you do both. - Will different rounds of the same game each count as a separate game for Task #04?
Yes! If you participate in both Higher or Lower 006 and Higher or Lower 007 then each would count as a separate game. Additionally, we only care for your specific post in a game so even if the round started before the event started on the 7th, if you posted after that date while the round was still open then it will count! - Does Encore count as a forum game for Task #04?
Yes! - Do I need to be logged in to the view the stars for the Star Hunt in Task #06?
No, you don't! They are viewable (and clickable so you can receive the reward) without logging in, unless you are looking on the forums, in which you DO need to be signed in just because the entire board is hidden unless logged in.
Additionally, you CAN click on a star even if it ends up not being the type you're looking for! The reward will not automatically save to your logs once clicked so if you find your partner's star then you can tell them where it is for them to collect instead. - Can I have a hint on the locations for Star Hunt in Task #06?
All locations were completely selected are random, however, there are 3 pairs of stars (so 6 stars total) on the site, and 2 pairs of stars (for 4 star totals) on the forums.
Stars on the forums will always be on the first page of a thread, but any non-staff thread is free game, as well as any post within that first page! For stars on the site, don't forget that they are a PAIR so if you find a star in one location, you might want to check other pages/threads in that same location type as well~ - Question?
